We bought this 7’7″ foam Moai from an event company during COVID:
Rene taught me his recipe for papercrete (a mix of paper and cement) and I applied it to the outside of the Moai. It took over two bags of cement and soooo much shredded paper to make it. I built up his nose and lips so his face wasn’t so flat and cartoonish. I added color and a waterproofing finish to the outside.
The original idea was to place the Moai a little farther back in bushes there, but I think this is his new home.
Chris liked this placement better and we put some lighting effects on his face for nighttime viewing. Chris added a very cool looking flame effect that makes the Moai look very dramatic!
