One of our local bars had a Tiki space and closed down. Lina got in touch with the bar owner and we headed down on their last day to pick up a plant wall they had. We ended up picking up a bunch of extra plants because they were closing and didn’t want to deal
Ohana Luau at the Lake has a tradition of Bowl Dances for charity. They are based on an old tradition in Tiki bars when a scorpion bowl was ordered and a mystery woman would deliver it to the table with a dance. We ordered a traditional Mystery Bowl at the Mai Kai last year. Ohana
Lina took a velvet painting class during FOMCON 2025 and painted this masterpiece. I built a frame for it. Lina carved it. I burned and finished it. And Lina hung it up in the Tiki Room. Lina tried to recreate a simple vintage Mexican carved frame but didn’t quite catch the design of the original.
It was circa 2018 and our friends came to our house for one of our first Tiki parties and told us that we should check out this bar they saw the day before, We were in the store at 10am on Sunday, They weren’t officially open when we arrived, but they opened the doors wide

The 100-mile winds have taken a toll on our outdoor Tikis; as you can see by the chunks taken out of this guy. Almost every one have been have been blown over at least once, so… in keeping our tradition of sticking poles up Moais and Tikis; I decided to fill them up with hard
We aren’t good of keeping track of all the little things we do around the house, so here’s a 2025 update of the party Pit and Tiki Bar area of the house:
New Art for the wet bar. It’s more size appropriate to the other 2, but I’m not sure I like it better. We also added some art for the bathroom door and I made a curtain for the back bar.
The jukebox created a lot of projects and made us rethink the entire TV room. Lina learned how to add a walnut stain to any piece of furniture, so she turned the white cabinet we used as a closet (similar to the one below) into a walnut looking closet. Then we won a record player
