What’s the purpose of the Polynesiacs Passport?
The passport is designed for use when visiting home bars, public bars, Tiki events, or Tiki personalities. There is no prescribed list of places (no checklist of places). Just open passport pages to allow for stamps or signatures for any place or person that a Polynesiac (That’s you!) would like to visit.
What was the inspiration for the design of the Polynesiacs Passport?
Some of the bar owners from Polynesiacs: Tiki at Home were excited to find their bars inside such a wonderful book and thought it would be cool if we had a passport to stamp when visiting each other’s bars. We decided to make a universal passport for everyone, and pay homage to the original Don the Beachcomber’s passport from the International Marketplace. The stamping pages include the NavPoints from the book with some new text (e.g., a tongue-in-cheek authorization statement) from Tiki Tom-Tom.
Can I buy more than one passport?
Yes! Apply pay and Google pay assume you only want one but you can buy more than one if you follow the normal checkout process. Just click the + symbol next to the 1 quantity, or type whatever number of passports you want so you can save shipping costs and make sure you have as many stamping pages as you can fill.
Can I pick up my passport in person?
Yes! If you plan on seeing Tiki Tom-Tom, Chris Werstiki, or Lina Rumamok soon, select “Arrange a pickup with Tiki Tom-Tom, Lina Rumamok, or Chris Werstiki” shipping method at checkout. Then click the “Add a note to your order” button to suggest when you might pick it up.
I’m a Home or Commercial Bar Owner (Or Event Runner). What Size Stamp do I need?
Each stamping page is the same size as a standard passport (3.5″ x 5″) and has a header and footer with the Polynesiacs Waypoints. You can carve your own stamp, or get one commercially made to whatever size you think will work with your logo, and fit on the page. We hope you choose a size that will leave room for at least a couple more stamps per page 🙂 We chose a $29 custom, 1.63″ circle diameter, self-inking circle stamp for our home bar.
With your help, we donated $3,844.19 to the Fraternal Order of Moai Foundation to support good works, which includes college scholarships for students who live on Rapa Nui. We are so stoked to be able to have fun with a purpose!
*Some proceeds from all sales will be donated to the Fraternal Order of Moai Foundation, which has selected the Easter Island Foundation as its national charity. Among its many projects, the Foundation established the William Mulloy Library on the island and continues to support its operations. In addition, the Foundation funds archaeological research, provides students with scholarships, books, equipment, publishes a series of books about Easter Island and Polynesia, publishes the Rapa Nui Journal, and sponsors conferences about Easter Island and Polynesia.
